Salesforce and NVIDIA just threw a massive wrench into the business models of OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google.
At Dreamforce, the two tech giants unveiled Koa- a new AI reasoning model built specifically for everyday business tasks like sales, marketing, and customer service. Instead of spending billions building a general-purpose AI from scratch, Salesforce took NVIDIA’s open-weight Nemotron model and loaded it with nearly three decades of enterprise CRM knowledge.
Why should the big AI labs be sweating? Because Koa directly attacks their biggest enterprise revenue stream: API token burn.
When an AI agent needed to reason through a multi-step customer workflow before, companies had to route those requests to costly frontier models like ChatGPT or Claude. But those giant models waste massive computing power on general trivia and complex math problems that companies don’t care about during a customer support call.
Koa flips that script entirely.
Salesforce trained the model on synthetic business data- so no sensitive customer info ever leaks out. It handles actual workplace tasks with three times fewer errors than generic models while burning a fraction of the computing power.
This rollout highlights a fundamental split in the AI industry. Businesses are realizing they do not need a multi-billion-dollar general genius to route a support ticket or update a sales deal. They want focused, private, and cheap reasoning power integrated directly into the software they already use.
OpenAI and Anthropic built incredible general-purpose tools, but Salesforce and NVIDIA just showed that in the enterprise world, lean domain experts will beat generic giants every single time.
